Brief History of Anders Products

The Anders Corporation was founded in 1950 by Frank Avery Jr. as a manufacturer of plastic products including medical disposables.

The company was aptly named “Anders”, which means “something different” in German. One of the early products was an oxygen canopy, which was used for the treatment of a variety of pulmonary diseases including heart attacks.

Distributed through Medico Hospital Supply, the heart attack of then President Dwight D. Eisenhower was treated with an Anders Oxygen Tent.

Anders when on to manufacture medical disposables as a sub-contractor for many of the top names in the business. Then when the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) took full force in the mid-1990s, Anders like so many other manufacturing firms in the U.S.A. lost their business to subsidized, across the boarder manufacturing firms.

Anders was caught in the first wave of many to follow which has resulted in a dramatic drop in manufacturing in the United States of America to where we are today.

But Anders rather than closing its doors took a different approach.

Utilizing our loyal workforce and the latest in chemical engineering technology we reinvented Anders as a custom coating manufacture.

That was 1996 and now twenty years later we continue to bring to market truly innovative products utilizing the latest technology. For example, in our laboratory we utilize a scanning electron microscope and other highly sophisticated laboratory equipment for both new product development and quality control.
